Family And Life’s Early Stage of Jess Sims
Jess Sims is a Massachusetts girl who was born to a black policeman father and Italian mother who was always involved in sports from an early age. It was her father who not only encouraged her to join sports but also supported her throughout. She always had a complete family while growing up, but her only regret is not getting the chance to meet her grandfather from her mother’s side.
She got involved in numerous activities like tennis, tap, ballet, etc., in school, but she found her calling in sports and started getting involved in basketball, lacrosse, and soccer. She was a natural athlete and always had the skill of leading from the front, and it helped her to become captain of both high school and college sports teams.
Since she was biracial, Jess had many challenges while growing up, but it was at the age of 13, her AAU coach who helped her to overcome the challenge. He gave her the “I’m Black and White” article, which helped her to tackle the issue of being holding a white and black identity at the same time.
